Meet Roderick Clarke
WHERE I COME FROM
I was born and raised in Montego Bay, Jamaica, before I immigrated to the United States at age 17. After arriving in the U.S. and grateful for the opportunities I was given, I promptly joined the United States Marine Corps, where I trained and served in Florida and in North Carolina in managing logistics for infantry regiments.
After some time in the U.S., my work took me abroad. I lived and worked in Okinawa, Japan for 8 years as a Marine Sergeant. There I trained Marines in military logistics for offloading of petroleum from ship to shore.

Off the horn of Africa I worked to protect American lives and assets from pirates while also working to protect and provide resources for those African nations that hosted us. While working overseas I pursued degrees in business management and petroleum logistics, focusing on safeguarding the natural resources of local waters and maritime waters from Africa to the China seas.

After more than 20 years with the U.S. military, I now live in West Palm Beach with my family, where I serve as the pastor of Grace Place Church in Lantana. With the church, I organize quarterly events where food and clothing can be donated to area residents in need. I also began a prison ministry. As a Port of Palm Beach Commissioner, I hope to provide support for a future inland port in the Glades area, pass stricter term limits for the Commission, and ensure Cruise Lines and other businesses can operate safely and successfully.
I have 5 children, with my oldest son now attending the University of Texas.
